We respect your privacy. Here is exactly what we collect, what we don’t, and how to reach us about either.

The short version

  • No tracking is required to read this site.
  • Affiliate links may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you.
  • Email subscriptions are stored with our newsletter provider until you unsubscribe.
  • Cookies are used only for theme preference and newsletter session state. No advertising cookies.
  • No data is sold. Ever.

What we collect and why

Email address (newsletter)

If you sign up for the Sunday letter, we store your email with our newsletter provider so we can send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. The newsletter provider may log opens and clicks in aggregate.

Comments

Comments are powered by a third-party service (GitHub Discussions via Giscus). Your comment, display name, and the URL of the article are stored on GitHub. We do not have a separate database of comments.

Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider stores basic request logs (IP, user-agent, request URL) for a limited time to operate the service and prevent abuse. These logs are not sold or shared.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or analytics that identify you personally.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links do not change what you pay, and we only recommend things we genuinely use.

Affiliate networks may use cookies to attribute the sale. You can read each program’s policy at:

  • Amazon Associates privacy notice
  • Skimlinks privacy notice
  • LTK privacy notice

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may embed videos, images, or posts from third parties (e.g. Unsplash for photos). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you visited that website directly — those sites may collect data, use cookies, or track your interaction.

Each post is written in my own words. Where I draw on a brand quote, news item, or another writer’s research, I link to the original source.

Your rights

You can:

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time (link in every email).
  • Request deletion of your email by writing to [email protected].
  • Delete your comment by editing or removing the GitHub Discussion.
  • Clear local cookies via your browser settings.

If you are in the EU/EEA, GDPR applies; if you are in California, the CCPA applies. Both give you the right to access and delete your data. We honor both.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

If we change anything material, we’ll update this page and the effective date below.
